With 8,000-9,000 participants from 26 different countries, this year's Haervejsmarch 2025 in
Viborg was very nice and stylish. It was lovely hiking weather, it was festive, it was good and it was
a super nice experience to participate in this year's Haervejsmarch in Viborg.
Many local hikers participated from Ringkøbing, Skjern, Tarm, Videbæk, Holstebro, Struer,
Herning, Ikast, Brande, Vildbjerg, Aulum, Kibæk, Skive, Silkeborg, Frederiks, Bjerringbro, Viborg
and Randers as well as many other local towns in West Jutland and the Central Jutland region.
It was some very nice routes in Viborg and in the nature around Viborg that Haervejsmarchen had
found for us. The routes were perfectly marked with route tape and differently colored arrows at
the 6 different distances of 5 km, 10 km, 20 km, 30 km, 40 km and 45 km.
Impressively beautiful with the Carnival March on Saturday and the Children's March and Pilgrim's
Walk on Sunday. Nice to see the many festively dressed carnival walkers, where good mood, funny
costumes and festive music accompanied the participants around the route.
Big praise to Haervejsmarchen for the many toilets and waste bins, which were placed at
appropriate intervals on the routes. It was also great to see that the last hikers on the various
routes were quickly cleaned up nicely.
There were a great many helpers, all of whom with good humor made a great effort to provide
service at the starting point, the rest areas and at the finish line, as well as generally a super good
service before, during and after the hardships out on the routes.
It has been very interesting to follow the development and the many different initiatives and
innovations in connection with the Army March, since I took part as a soldier for the first time in
1970.
